Appearance

Ptolemy is a striking young male with a lush, fluffy coat. His upper body—including his back, face, and the top of his extravagant tail—is marked in vivid red-orange stripes, while his underside, chest, paws, and chin are a crisp white. Long fur tufts extend from his paws, giving him the impression of having soft boots. His tail has been described by the Captain as “entirely too dramatic for someone so small.”

Background

Ptolemy’s origins remain unknown, but he was discovered mid-tour of Starbase 369 shortly after Captain Corbin’s arrival. He ensnared himself quite literally by catching his claw on her uniform trousers. Rather than surrender the feline to station authorities, Corbin claimed him on the spot, declaring to Admiral MacLaren, “The Cat Distribution Service has chosen me.”

Starbase personnel had been attempting to round up a known litter of feral kittens still loose aboard the station. Ptolemy was one of the final three at large at the time of his adoption.

Personality

Ptolemy is a curious and confident young cat with a fondness for elevated observation posts and warm panels. He is quickly adapting to life aboard the USS Arawyn, showing early signs of a preference for naps near data terminals, quiet corners, and sun-warmed bulkheads.

While not permitted in formal command spaces during duty shifts, Ptolemy has occasionally been seen curled up on a blanket in the Captain’s ready room, quiet, watchful, and content to observe without interfering.

• Supervising paperwork from the comfort of the Captain’s desk.
• Ensuring alertness by launching unexpected attacks on unattended boots.
• Monitoring the ship’s structural integrity via extensive nap inspections across multiple decks.
• Offering support during long shifts with soft chirps and tail flicks.

Notes

• Ptolemy is not currently authorized to leave the ship.
• He has not yet been outfitted with a collar or combadge (pending ship’s quartermaster approval).
• Any crewmember discovered feeding him unauthorized snacks will be subject to reprimand (unless he asks nicely).
