"Lt. Quinn. A minute, please," Sorvak appeared at Mira's side.

Mira was standing by one of the consoles in the astrometerics lab with two other science officers, planning out their next mapping sessions.

At Sorvak's words she nodded to the other officers to continue and hurried after him.

Entering his office, Sorvak gestured to Mira to sit, then rounded his desk to sit as well. "Our mapping schedule has been postponed while Engineering and Tactical are testing the ship's tactical systems, so in the interim, I would like you to assess our anomaly modeling and our coordination with Operations. Crew usage of life-support adjacent systems provides an ideal testing ground.”

A long pause.

Mira finally hazarded. "You want me to check out crew usage of replicators?"

"Correct, Lt," Sorvak answered. "I'd like you to check Ops data on food production, waste and hygienic systems."

The Chief Science didn't look like he was joking, and it occurred to Mira that even if he was, she wouldn't be able to tell.

Sorvak continued, "You'll be in touch with Lt. Cole from Operations. I'd like your report on my desk by the time the ship leaves Lathira IV."

"Understood, sir."

Sorvak regarded her steadily. "Do you have any questions?"

Mira shook her head. "No, sir." She wasn't even sure where to start.

"Dismissed, Lt."
