Mission: Assignment: Arawyn

The view behind Captain Corbyn of the traffic in space dock was quite mesmerising. Sandra had to blink once to refocus when the Captain spoke. As she waited her turn, Sandra contemplated what to say as introduction. She waited patiently her turn and then spoke. “I’m LtCmdr Sandra Boren, I am your Chief Engineering Officer. Before this assignment I was stationed on the USS Valiant, first as Assistant Engineering Officer, later as the Chief Engineer.” The Valiant was a noble name for a ship, even her mother had served on an iteration of the ship, it had been a Defiant class at the time. She, too, had been thrown into the deep end at the time, and came out swimming strongly at the end of it. It happened well before Sandra had been born, but she remembered her mother telling her that she had a Lieutenant Jr, and given the temporary XO position on the Valiant while the Cortez underwent a refit at SB202 after a Romulan encounter. “I have a fondness for old Earth history and object from those times inherited via my Grandfather, and I, too, am housing a young feline, it accosted me on Starbase 369 as I made my way over to the Arawyn,” Sandra nodded as she completed her introduction.
After the introductions were complete, the Captain wanted readiness reports and engineering was to start. Sandra glanced at her PADD, she had the summary on it. “The last of the engineers have arrived today, and we now have our full complement available to complete the work still ahead of us,” she started, “Work has been completed on the following systems: Replicator and Fabrication systems, computer systems & LCARS maintenance, Environmental and Life support, structural and hull integrity. We are completing the final diagnostics on impulse and power systems by the end of today.” Sandra paused, that was good news. “For the Warp propulsion systems, we expect to have the work there completed by Tuesday,” she glanced at her PADD again, “most of the sensor and subspace systems are completed, however critical components for the tractor beam will not arrive until Tuesday. That completes my report.”
