An unexpected delivery

Just as Ryan was about to retire for the night, he got a com signal. "Lieutenant, there was a delivery for you while you were at the carnival. I've taken the liberty of having it sent to your quarters."

Ryan frowned. He wasn't expecting anything. "A delivery? Why couldn't I have picked it up in the cargo bay?"

"Eh, given what it was, I thought it was a good idea for it to be in your quarters sooner rather then later."

"Okay. Thanks," Ryan said, still not sure what 'it' was. He immediately went to his quarters. His eyes widened in surprise. Inside was a bunny inside of a cage, minus the uniform this time. On it was a note. Ryan opened it up and read it.

'My dear sour-puss friend,

I do hope you enjoy the trick I've played on you and your ship. To help you overcome any feelings of slight you may have against me, I offer you this gift. Spencer is just past his prime, you see, and I can think of no better retirement plan for him then to explore the universe with you. I asked around and you didn't have any pets. Perhaps never? I hope you find him a suitable companion.

Finally, a word of caution for the rest of the carnival-this place is full of wonder and excitement, but also danger if you don't look carefully. Do be more careful the next time you stumble into the unknown.

Ryan glanced at the rabbit, then opened the cage and lifted it out. He had no idea what to do with the rabbit, or what to feed it. He would have to look that up. At least he wasn't allergic to it. "Spencer, huh? I guess that's far less confusing than Ryan," he couldn't help but chuckle.
