Mission: The Displaced

---Engineering----

“Arlen to Lieutenant Evans. We’ve lost contact with the Away Team, and there’s an energy buildup aboard the Eirian ship.”

"Acknowledged." Lelina gave herself a split second to mentally chastise herself for not going on the away team instead of Ryan. But there had been an indication that this alien species was telepathic in some fashion. And while she was a Gammazoid, there was a very small chance her low-level of telepathic ability might have given off unexpected results. And unknown variables during a first contact mission was something no one really wanted. So she had erred on the side of caution and sent Ensign Collingway instead.

Professionalism soon took over. She would not lose him, or anyone else. Not on her first mission. After trying the com herself, she activated an experimental 'flare', a low level transmission sent by VLF radio waves directed to the shuttle currently parked on the alien ship. It was theoretically possible it would penetrate the alien ship's blockage and light up the console Ensign Zodeil would be currently monitoring. All it would indicate that communication with the ship had been lost. The protocol next would be for Ensign Zodeil to attempt communication reestablishment and update on the situation, even if it meant leaving the ship in the shuttle.

That done, Lieutenant Evans activated her combadge. "Lieutenant Evans to Captain Corbin. We have lost communication with the away team. We are reading some kind of energy buildup within the interior of the ship, near the site of the displacement. I am working on sending a signal to Ensign Zodeil's shuttle to advise us on the situation."
