Mission Summary
Nov 12, 2025 - Jan 11, 2026
The Arawyn was dispatched to the Spinward March to chart the Tethra Corridor when it detected an unusual harmonic signal. A spatial rift abruptly opened, expelling a severely damaged alien vessel. The signal was traced directly to the ship and found to match the rift’s structure. Nine survivors were transported aboard the Arawyn and placed in a secured isolation area. Initial scans revealed a displaced region inside the alien ship, indicating that the rift had originally formed within the vessel itself. Within this region, a persistent harmonic resonance—described as an “echo”—was detected.
Engineering determined that the alien ship employed extremely advanced technology, though remote scans were insufficient to identify the cause of the rift. Communication with the survivors was initially limited, as the universal translator required time to adapt, forcing both crews to rely on gestures and short phrases. The aliens displayed bioluminescent skin patterns that appeared to convey emotional states, mirrored by pulsing, vein-like structures embedded in their ship’s hull. While a relationship between the crew’s biological signaling and the ship's systems was suspected, it could not be conclusively proven.
Science and Medical teams established protocols to study the survivors and with the aid of telepathic contact, full translation was achieved. The aliens — identified as the Eirians — granted permission for Starfleet assistance. An away team boarded their vessel, transferring power and interfacing with its systems. Analysis of the ship’s navigational data indicated that the Eirians had traveled from a region approximately 70,000 light-years beyond the galactic rim.
During these operations, an additional lifeform was detected near the displaced region. The Eirians described it as small, hungry, and drawn to “wounds in the sky.” The situation escalated when the lifeform became active and began moving through the Eirian ship, attracted to verteron particles. Attempts to influence it using harmonic signals instead produced a brief connection, revealing the creature’s instinctive drive to return home. Contact with the away team was temporarily lost, triggering emergency signaling to the Arawyn shuttle. By creating a controlled trail of verteron particles, the shuttle successfully diverted the creature away from the ship and kept it occupied until conditions stabilized.
When the rift reopened - the Eirians returned to their vessel and the away team was recovered and decontaminated. The lifeform disappeared into the rift where it met up with another of its kind. To protect the ship from the rift's effects, the Arawyn aligned its shields to the harmonic waveform while deflector screens stabilized the corridor. These adjustments caused widespread temporal disorientation among the crew, including nausea and hallucinations, requiring medical intervention and stabilization using anyon particles.
A much larger lifeform then emerged within the corridor, initially placing significant strain on the system but ultimately reinforcing the passage. The Arawyn maintained corridor stability until the Eirian ship transited the rift, after which the corridor collapsed completely, leaving no trace of the rift or confirmation of the Eirians’ fate.
