Mission: The Displaced

As the rift opened, the little one slowly came to a halt.

Vel's attention was momentarily occupied with setting up the shields according to the data sent by the Arawyn, and when she lifted her head back, the lifeform had disappeared from her viewscreen.

She quickly moved to a side console to try and trace it.

It took her a few seconds to find it again.

It was heading straight for the rift.

Lelina was working quickly with the communications officer, trying to see if they could translate the harmonics into a language they could understand. It should be possible. Music was a language, after all. But the computer was having a rough time trying to translate it into anything they could understand.

"The creature is entering the rift," the operations officer warned. "Five....four...three....two...one!"

They all collectively watched on the view screen as the creature moved into the rift. For a moment, it was silent as everyone held their breath.

And then the creature disappeared into the rift.

Sorvak continued monitoring the harmonics emanating from the rift. As the creature approached the rift, the harmonic waveform intensified. But once it entered the rift, the waveform stabilized into a new harmonic.

"Lt!" Sorvak turned to Evans. "We're now out of phase with the rift harmonics. We need to readjust the shield frequencies. Now."

Lelina's fingers dances across her engineering station, readjusting as requested. At the same time, the sensor readings from Vel's shuttle started to populate Sorvak's console, giving critical information as to the status of the rift.

And it could definitely detect two lifeform inside the rift, one which was similar to the structure of the creature.

"Zodeil to Arawyn," Vel's voice interrupted the bridge. "Permission to dock."

Lelina turned on the com. "Permission granted. We have you cleared for shuttle bay two." She glanced at the Commander. "We've been working on a communication module with the samples of harmonics we've been given. It's still really rough, but it might be possible to send a message to the creature inside the rift."
