Waiting is the hardest part

Mission: The Displaced
///Engineering////
The process of getting the deflector screens ready was by itself an easy task. The ship hadn't suffered any damage recently, after all. It was a simple potential transfer of power. It was the implications of what happened next which was the issue. It meant that the ship could be under attack. Lives could be lost.
The atmosphere in Engineering transitioned from relaxed to tense as a result. Most of the away team had beamed back. Ensign Collingway had personally assured her he was fine but running late due to a debrief Commander Sorvak wanted to do. But there was still one team member not back, and a potential shuttle to defend. That shuttle had more or less fed a rogue creature that was headed back to a ripple in space, one that was opening again. Hopefully it would be a peaceful process. A lost alien returning home.
If not...then things would get ugly very quickly. Lelina hated it. The waiting. "Standing by for deflector screens," she reported calmly to the bridge.
