While Lelina was in the bridge, Ryan sat in engineering, pushing away the fact that his entire life had just unraveled, thanks to his last 'therapy' session. He couldn't afford to focus on that, though. Right now he had a friend who was stuck between a rock and a hard place. Ryan distinctly remembered an old ancient game...what was it called? He remembered it had a small creature who would follow on a set path, gobbling each morsel for points. That's what the creature was doing right now, eating morsel after morsel the shuttle was leaving behind.
It was engineering's job to make sure that the creature didn't gobble the shuttle either. His speciality was damage control, and he really didn't want to be in that position after the fact. They had run the calculations necessary to adjust the shield harmonics, and had just finished up when he just arrived back from his 'break'.
"Ensign Collingway to Ensign Zodeill, stand by for advised shield harmonics," Ryan said, sending along the data. Then he added, "We have an emergency lock on you as well," he added. "Say the word, and we can have you back here immediately."
The shuttle acknowledged back. Ryan made sure the com was ready to receive any data telemetry, then leaned back slightly.
Now the waiting began.
