“Affirmative,” replied Dr Zedrick on Tarvik III. He agreed with Dr Amberlyn regarding the transfer of patients to Arawyn. He was reluctant to release any of his people to the ship unless there were issues they could not handle in their planet-based infirmary, and he was glad Amberlyn was not insistent upon transfers. He was happy to send samples of local atmosphere both inside and outside the domes. So far, no seriously dangerous pathogens had been detected, either as a result of awakening such from within the original planet or importing or mutating something as a result of the terraforming processes.
“Thank you, that was another of my questions. Are there other immunizations before we visit Tarvik III?” asked Riah.
“Yes, I will send our vaccine formula to you to administer to anyone who comes down here or interacts with organic materials from here, so they don’t get sick. There is also a virus, known as Davella-B1, which has run through the community here. Chills, fever, respiratory congestion. Nothing life threatening for your average healthy person but lasts 3-4 days and you don’t want it running through your ship unchecked,” explained Zedrick.
“That is what I want to avoid, Doctor. We have extensive lab facilities available up here if you need use of it or confirmations of your own findings,” Amberlyn assured him. “We can also coordinate with Science labs for flora and fauna analysis.”
“We have had some mutations of plants that have proven to be skin irritants. We might check with your botanical specialist about modifying the species and with you, Doctor, to see if there is a vaccine or antihistamine formula to counter the blistering rash, which is quite painful like a burn. I can send some culture samples to your lab for that, if you would check into the issue,” said Zedrick.
“Botanicals in Science would be Lt Sporda. And I will alert my head of medical research about developing the antihistamine. Her name is Beverly Daly. Just send to the attention of Dr Daly when arranging transport.
“Acknowledged, Doctor.”
“Is there anything else you need from us?” asked Amberlyn.
“I have prepared a list. Sending it to you now. Any help in this direction would be most appreciated.”
“We are well stocked and will see that you have everything you need. I would like to offer you a visit to Arawyn’s medical department, if you are interested and can spare a few hours,” offered Riah.
“I’d like that. I’ll need to check with my Department Coordinator to be sure the place is covered, and I will comm you with a couple of times I’d be available, see if we can’t coordinate.”
“Excellent. Look forward to that and to working with you and your team,” concluded Amberlyn.
