Mission:
Assignment: Arawyn
Location: Conference Room :: USS Arawyn

The Captain gestured lightly to her right. “Let’s go around the table. Name, department, and a short piece about where you’ve come from — that can be career history or something suitably harmless you’re willing to share. Then we’ll move into readiness.”
Riah stood comfortably. Speaking in public was not one of her fears, unlike her paranoia at heights. “Good afternoon. I’m LtCmdr Riah Amberlyn. I’m the Chief Medical Officer. I come to Arawyn from the USS Coventry, where I also served as Asst Medical Officer and Chief Medical Officer over my 5 and a half years on that ship. My medical specialty is xeno-biological medicine. That’s the study of medicine applied to the biology of alien life forms, alien being non-humans, though I do know my way around humans too, as well as cats, dogs, and other common ship pets. I know we have a couple or three of those among you.” She nodded with a warm smile. “I’m glad to be here and look forward to getting to know all of you.”
Other’s around the table made their own introductions.
Once the last introduction was made, Sabrina inclined her head.
“Thank you. Now, readiness reports. I want them direct, no sugar-coating. If there’s something that could slow our departure, I’d rather know it now than discover it halfway past the outer marker. We’ll start with Engineering.”
After Cmdr Boren delivered her report, the Captain called upon Medical. Again, Riah stood and acknowledged those around the table.
“Captain, Medical is functionally ready to receive incoming patients. There are a few minor installations of non-essential systems still underway. The Storage rooms are fully stocked for a 5-year mission without resupply. This includes medical supplies, as well as replacement parts for all the bells and whistles. I must brag about the state-of-the-art infirmary afforded to this vessel. It is beyond belief the diagnostic and treatment possibilities packed into the small space of Sickbay. We have an excellent support staff, with a total of 4 physicians. All our nursing staff are Nurse Practitioners, which is an extra 3 years of training, and all have a minimum of 3 years ship-board experience. Technicians and aides have both training and experience with such high-end equipment. I can assure you that Sickbay is top notch, ship shape and ready for our mission.”
Riah sat back down, glad that her report had come early in the process of the Briefing. She was proud of her department and wanted the Captain and senior staff to know they could have confidence in both standard health maintenance and specialty or emergency medical care.
